podium for laura at cmwc!!
Hub Racing's Laura Hopcroft blew past and then outlasted
almost all of her competition in Sunday's final at the
cycle messenger world championships to take 3rd place
female and grace the podium in her hometown of toronto. 4
separate thunderstorms marked the day as the 100 finalists
pushed through manifest after manifest in the 4 hour final.
The elimination style race started in a fury of heat and
speed before racers settled into the long day of mock
messenger work. the first storm hit around manifest 5 of
the 12 needed to win the race. laura's teammate, bega,
would make it through 8 before being eliminated somewhere
around 40th-50th place. Laura would prove faster avoiding
elimination by staying out in front of the race all the way
to end. as the 3rd storm brought hail and tortuous winds,
the final racers left standing fought on to finish the day.
Laura's third place is her best in the world champs and
racing in her hometown made it even sweeter.
