superweek day 5/7...
together through the worst of days. you must understand
where you are in the peleton both before, during, and after
the day's race. you must plan for every race, and consider
the race as the full 7 day event, not just one day. Day 5
at superweek was the day when it all went south. but
despite missing the break, loosing riders to the 3rd group
on the major split, crashing coming up to the sprint, and
in fact moving from 4th to 6th in the gc, Hub Racing in
fact now finds itself in posistion to try to put Brooke
O'Connor on the podium on the final day. mathematics can be
fun.
the crash happened with about 2 to go and brooke hit the
ground... hub's sherri stedje and arley kemmerer came back
for her and dragged her to the finish to get those valuable
last points at the finish line. not every team ahead of hub
in the gc had the same ability and a few of hub's rivals
found themselves out of the race. such is the nature of a
tour.
Now closer to 3rd then before the race began, and our major
rivals for that spot behind us, Hub will now try to put
Brooke O'Connor into the top of the final sprints. 2 good
days saturday and sunday and Hub will find itself once
again on the podium of the international cycling classic.
its not going to be easy to do, but a full team is always
better then the sum of its parts, and hub is one of the few
still putting a full team out on the race course.
10 racers
4 soigners
3 babies
2 grandparents
thats the way to do a tour.
