Lakeland Twilight and the Florida State Criterium

While my teammates were representing us up north I was down here in Florida dealing with my injured knee, putting on a race with our other Florida teammate, Sherri Stedje, officiating a race, and actually racing my bike all in the same weekend. Just incase anyone thought Sherri was sitting around down here, I wanted to be the first to tell you that it is just the opposite; she is busy promoting great races! First up was the Lakeland Twilight Criterium on Saturday were I finished 3rd place. That was the warm up to the Florida State Criterium that was on Sunday. Both races were actually on the same course; however, the first day was counter clockwise and the second day was the opposite direction and clockwise. To shake things up a little bit the finish line was changed too. The course was pretty clear cut; half a mile and four corners. Sunday went a little better for me, as the race was more of a race, and I was able to initiate a breakaway about half way into it. After being off for two laps by myself I was joined by Tracy Cundiff for a few laps before we were both joined by Tina Elliot (now Schofield) for the rest of the race. Tina got away with three laps to go and we stayed away before I jumped with a half a lap to go to take second place. Pictures of the podium will follow soon.
