a solid opening for the hub racing women: 4 in the money, 6
in the gc points, 2 riders in the sprint points, a prime
win.
colavita came out firing winning the red (sprint) and
yellow (general classification) with Jennifer Purcell.
colavita dominated the finishing sprint taking 3 of the top
4 places. but while jennifer was clearly the best sprinter
on the day, almost every sprint came down to the photo. and
several teams were able to take money primes including the
PUERTO RICO CYCLING TEAM and Hub Rcaing. it'll be hard for
colavita to dominate like that every day for 14 days and
they now have to protect 2 jerseys on a single rider.
hub racing road strong, spending several laps at the front
pulling the field showing off the orange. veronica martinez
went for points and sits 4th in the red jersey competition.
amy mcguire working with her snagged a point as well.
elizabeth morse hill jumped for a prime from 200 meters and
took it at the line from a charging kate ross (lipsmacker).
liz leyden went for a flyer inside of 10km to go and it set
up the sprint nicely. but the hub train came apart around
the final turn as the hard charging colavita bunch came to
the front. the hub women still finished strong, with amy
mcguire leading the team in at 6th and elizabeth coming
across just behind her for 10th.
