DCCX!

Quick post about DC's only cyclocross race, DCCX, presented by the DCMTB, Family Bike Shop, and Whole Foods.  I (Arley), won.  I had a great start, rode my own pace the whole time, and eventually rode away from the field to victory.  Enough about that, I don't like writing about myself.

The race was great, with a huge women's field, including several newbies!  I was told this was due in part to the women's only clinic we held on the course the day prior.  Despite a few hefty downpours, roughly 17 women hung in there and learned lots about cyclocross racing from me and my wealth of knowledge (or something).  It was great to see so many women there, super excited about racing cyclocross, and even more excited after finishing their first race on Sunday.  I must admit, their excitement and enthusiasm about their new experience was more gratifying than my win.  Honestly.

This was Sarah Caravella's debut in orange, but unfortunately, mechanical issues got the better of her new ride (so new, in fact, she had only ridden on it for a few minutes prior to the start of the race!).  Once she gets the bike dialed, she'll be rollin'!

All in all, DCCX was a blast, Marc and Matt at DCMTB did an awesome job.  If you missed this year's version, you better be there next year!

Next up, UCI events at Beacon CX and HPCX in New Jersey this weekend.  Ride on.
