a local weekend of cross...
Md at the Wayne Scott Memorial Xross Saturday November
7th. but the race didnt go as expected. c3's dede winfield
and hub's arley kemmerer would be expected to ride away in
a mac race like this. with most of their regular foes up
north at the uci's, dede and arley would take on the mac
race and mabra race this weekend. dede and arley indeed
took off early in the race and human zoom's kristen gavin
made the jump to stay with them. but in the sand pit, arley
and dede's battle would result in a tumble. as dede hit the
ground and arley couldnt avoid her, kristen put the hammer
down, leaving her 2 fallen comrades in the dirt and riding
solo to the finish. dede would take arley at the finish and
arley would complete the podium in 3rd.
hub was at the Tacchino Ciclocross all day on sunday with
several club riders racing earlier in the day. matt even
raced his first go as a cat 3 and took 15? or so. but the
real showdown we were waiting for was arley taking another
shot at dede winfield. wouldnt happen though. it started as
expected with dede powering up the hills and arley holding
her wheel. after just one lap, the 2 had close to 45
seconds on the field. they didnt want this one to come down
to some silly crash stealing their thunder. but what we
want isnt always want we get, and as they came through the
lapped juniors, arley got clipped and put her ankle into
her pedal opening a 1 inch gash in her skin. as she came to
the pit and got ems help with ice and bandages and all,
dede had a clean ride to the finish. the french fires were
really good.
